Ingebrigt
Wassilioff
and his trusty companion …
He was second generation Wassilioff and ran the
hotel together with his sister Tatjana. Ingebrigt was the out going
one whilst Tatjana ran the hotel from behind the scenes with an iron
fist. So successful was this combination that they were one of the
few hotels in Norway to be were awarded 3 stars in the Beckers travel
guide.
The hotel was founded by Michael Wassilioff. He deserted Tsar Nicolas’s
army in 1840 and escaped from Riga together with Captain Wuhrschmidt.
He met and married Anne Marie. The hotel was up and running by 1844.
Times and the hotel has since then seen many changes, but Wassilioff’s spirit and hospitality lives on…
